A shore home opening checklist for the first stay.

Bring the home back into use with a clear sequence: review what was left open, agree qualified systems work, organize repairs and outdoor care, then prepare the rooms you will use.

Begin with the closing record

Before adding new tasks, review the last closing list, completed-work notes and any unresolved findings. Include the approximate timing of your first stay and the areas you expect to use. If a system was shut down, identify who handled it and what records are available. A useful opening plan starts with what is known and leaves uncertain items for the right review. Mark any tasks that still need an owner decision.

  • Carry forward unfinished repairs and owner decisions.
  • List existing providers and planned appointments.
  • Keep access arrangements separate from the public request.

Assign system activation and checks

List the water, heating or cooling, appliances, irrigation and outdoor-water tasks that need review. Activation, testing, diagnosis and repair belong with appropriately qualified people under an agreed scope. Use seasonal systems coordination to organize the request and pool and exterior care for related outdoor needs. Record specialist findings and completed work separately from limited visual observations; an opening visit does not certify the home or every system.

Record visible winter wear

From safe, accessible areas, note visible concerns around paths, screens, fences, decks, outdoor showers and storage areas. Photos can help explain a question without establishing its cause. Add the work you want reviewed to a grounds and seasonal cleanup list. Elevated work, system concerns and suspected structural problems require the appropriate separate review. Keep areas that could not be observed visible in the record.

Sequence repairs before the final clean

Sort the repair and project list by what you want considered before arrival and what can be discussed for later. Describe the issue rather than choosing a technical solution yourself. Where work may leave dust, debris or materials, discuss its timing alongside cleaning. Haven coordinates the proposed sequence around agreed scope and available coverage; requested dates do not reserve appointments.

Prepare the rooms for your first stay

List the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen surfaces and floors that need attention after time away. Identify buildup, appliance interiors, delicate surfaces or product preferences for review. House cleaning, linens and restocking are separate scopes to agree. If the home is used between rental stays, physical turnover tasks can also be considered; Haven does not provide booking or guest management.

Review what is complete and what remains

Ask for a clear record of completed tasks, observed concerns, areas not observed and decisions still needed. Check that a proposed follow-up has an owner and an agreed next step. If you will be away between visits, discuss scheduled Care Visits and the reporting scope.

A Care Visit is a limited visual observation, not a formal inspection, continuous monitoring or emergency response. Haven brings the care plan and updates together, with provider, scope, agreement, charges and responsibility reviewed before approval.

Start with seasonal opening and closing, then add any other care you want reviewed. Share preferred dates in the request; work and charges need your approval.
